GETTING YOUR FOOT IN THE DOOR FOR A POTENTIAL CAREER OR HOBBY IN THE GUIDE OUTFITTING WORLD

Need a career change? Trying to get your foot in the door with a Guide Outfitter? Or just wanting a week getaway to improve your wrangling skills? 
Whatever your reasoning, we have the course for you!

Offering small group sizes of up to 10 participants, this six day course will give you plenty of one on one training with experienced Guides, Outfitters, a Licensed Farrier and Ticketed Faller. 

IMPORTANT NOTE: After successfully completing the course and given a passing review  by the instructors, you will be placed  in a wrangling position, with a Guide Outfitter, for the upcoming season.  You will be marked on your comprehension, capability, enthusiasm, work ethic, determination, honesty and positivity. This is what will determine if you will be placed as a wrangler for the season. If we feel this is not the correct path for you, we will  reimburse you your placement deposit.

We also offer the course at a discounted rate if you do not want a placement., but would like to learn a new skill and have an enjoyable week with some awesome people:)

The course takes place a half hour north west of Prince George, B.C. the beginning of July.
BRIEF COURSE OUTLINE:
6 days long
-basic horse skills & saddling
-horse trimming & shoeing
-packing and tying diamonds
-hauling awkward loads on pack horses
-skinning & caping
-chainsaw overview
-tent camp set up
-out camp cooking
We will also be doing an overnight trail ride with the saddle horses and pack horses that you will be working with throughout the course. 

During this course participants will be staying in wall tents and/or back pack tents.
All meals are included,  with some campfire cooking as an added experience.

This course is a co-ed course and is offered to all age groups (minimum age requirement is 16 years old, unless otherwise agreed upon with Millers Outdoors)

No horse experience is needed. 

2023 Course Dates: July 5th to July 10th &July 11th to July 16th 
Course Rate: $3,500.00 CAD with possible placement* 
$2,500.00 CAD without placement *

*placement = after completion of the course, you will possibly be place with a Guide Outfitter as a Wrangler for the upcoming season. Placement occurs if instructors feel you have proven the passing requirements listed above. Wrangler work can start as early as the day after the course or mid to end of July. You must be prepared to head to work right away, Millers Outdoors will give you more specific info on this once you have booked.
